A narrow lane winds through lush forest. At its end, in a peaceful clearing stands a small cluster of cottages. Here, surrounded by forest and bordered by the beautiful Miyanoura River, you will discover a special place to enjoy all the healing benefits of nature. Listed in the Michelin Green Guide, our cozy accommodations place you right at the heart of Yakushima’s natural world heritage.
Our detached cottages, standing amidst the trees, are linked to our dining room by a roofed wooden passageway that gives an impression of strolling through the forest. At the edge of our grounds flows the Miyanoura River. Pause here and listen to the sound of the gentle current washing against the rocks. Warm weather presents an ideal opportunity to paddle a kayak or enjoy a refreshing swim.
All rooms at the Lodge are detached cottages, each accommodating a single party of guests. Regrettably, we cannot honor requests for specific cottages when accepting reservations.
Introducing our ‘New Lodge’ cottages
These are the newest cottages at the Lodge.
Each is equipped with its own shower and a terrace from which the restful sounds of a mountain stream can be heard. Perfect for a relaxing stay with family or friends.
Please note that the ‘New Lodge’ rates differ slightly from our general rates. Please click below for details.
One bath lets you gaze at the river while you soak; one bath lets you gaze at a cedar grove while you soak; one double Goemon-style bath can be reserved for private use. Choose from among three specially designed Japanese baths and soak away fatigue from the day’s activities.
*The cedarview and riverview baths are communal Japanese baths, one reserved for men, the other for women. Men’s and women’s baths alternate daily.
*The Goemon bath can be reserved for private use.
Meals at the Lodge feature local ingredients from Yakushima and are served in our cozy dining room. Guests may also request a barbecue dinner, served on our riverside barbecue deck.
Please note that dinner is not served on Thursday evenings.
Our staff are happy to recommend a nearby restaurant to guests staying at the Lodge on a Thursday.
*Free transportation to and from the restaurant can be arranged between 6:00 and 8:30 p.m.
You don’t need to bring any special clothes or equipment to Yakushima to enjoy hiking in the mountains.
Everything you need is available to rent right here at the Lodge. We take care of cleaning and maintenance, so there’s no need to wash rentals before returning them.
The Lodge also has coin-operated washing machines and a dryer on site, so you can freshen up your wardrobe anytime.
